It’s January and it’s big fish time. Am getting reports from fisherman and seeing some pictures of some big fish being caught on the White River with Streamers, Eggs, Worms and various other flies. Murky, glacial, chocolate & dirty is how the color of the river is being described to me by folks coming into the shop. Everyone also adds “but” the fish are on a tear and biting like crazy. Even the bank fishers are reporting that they are hooking some good brown trout along with a ton of bows. Flows are up to 4,000 CFS while the COE continues to hold back the water due to continued flooding downstream. Bull Shoals lake is predicted to crest at 686 and some change and the rate of increase has slowed down quite a bit. Beaver and Tablerock continue to dump water.
This weekend we are headed to Tulsa for the Tulsa fly fishing club show which is a one day show on the 9th. It’s a great show and this will be my 5th year to go. This show is growing every year and they do a great job over there. So if you are reading this and live pretty close to Tulsa swing by from 8:00 am till about 3:00 PM The food has been pretty good over the years as well.
