Some very warm temps this past week have caused just about everything to explode into color. Leaves on the trees as well as the flowers on this dogwood seem to have popped out overnight. Sunscreen sales are also flourishing at local shops with rising temps hit the 80’s this past week. A front came through last night and dumped just over an inch of rain according to the gauge at the dam. 1.16 inches. The lake is already rising again and as of 5:00 am is at 660.30 with 20,000 CFS spinning at the Bull. Yesterdays fishing was not an easy affair for a couple of reasons. Wind! Wind! and more wind and the fish didn’t cooperate very well either. OK… Thats more than two reasons but what a difference from the day before. I have a T-Shirt I bought while in Alaska a few years ago that sort of describes it all. Death is certain! Fishing is not!
The 3 day predicted generation schedule usually pops up around 4:30 or 5:00 pm on friday afternoons for the weekend and gives the predicted generation outlook or guess in Mega Watts (MW) so here it is. I’ll translate it into CFS (cubic feet a second) and units. Saturday (today) is predicted at 304 MW or 21,400 CFS – 7 units. Sunday: 304 MW (see saturday). Monday: 295 MW or 20,650 CFS. I suspect these predictions will hold true unless there is a problem with flooding downstream. We were under a flood watch and a few counties were under warnings.
The storm that came through last evening dumped 1.16 inches of rain at the dam (according to the gauge at the dam ) Today Saturday will be a somewhat cooler with highs in the lower 70’s and west winds at 5 to 10 and this evenings lows in the mid 40’s (perfect night for an outside fire). Sunday warms up again into the lower 80’s and monday should be the same but with more wind. Tuesday looks good with a small chance of showers and highs in the upper 70’s. The rest of the week looks rain free as of this writing.
