Group Trips~New Boat~Bookings~Guide Addition

It’s been a hot summer this year for just about everyone in the country and trying to find a way to keep cool has been a challenge. One way of course has been to fish the cold clear waters of the White River in north Arkansas where in the early mornings one needs a light jacket.  The trout live in cold water and being on the cold water is one heck of a fun way to have some fun outdoors catching fish and stay cooler at the same time.  This summer myself and  and the guides of FFA (Fly Fish Arkansas) have been on the water catching fish, having fun and showing some folks from all over the country our passion for fly fishing by doing lots of on the water instruction.  It’s amazing how many young ladies and gentleman under the age of 21 have an interest in this activity.  It is a pleasure to coach and instruct these folks.

Building a new boat:  I started this project in may and it is finally coming to completion.  I know it looks pretty rough in this picture taken a while back but check out these pictures.  It’s tough to work outside in the afternoons after guiding when the temps are at near or over 100 degrees.

Group Trips:  Fall will soon be upon us and this time brings some really nice weather in the Ozarks.  Late September, October and early November are some of the most popular times to fish on the White River.  October is when our leaves change and the weather has that bit of an early morning nip to it with a nice gradual warm up to 80 degrees or so with cool nights in the 60’s.  Our group special has been pretty popular this year due to the quality of the lodging we are offering in the way of private luxurious housing with fantastic views.

New Addition to the Guide Team:  Sometimes experience is what it takes to make a day for the fisherman and experienced guides are getting harder to come by on the White River so we are pleased to announce that FFA and Clint Wilkerson have teamed up along with Ron Yarbourough and Kevin Brantonies with guide experience on the White River of 50 years.  No other team comes close to this amount of time on the White River.

Here are some pictures of my new boat.

Rod trays on both sides of the boat and up front a two cooler system.  One for drinks and one for food.

Almost finished.  We should be breaking a bottle of bubbly across the bow by this weekend.   Note lots of dry storage in this boat to put clothing and bags.

  1. Way to go on the boat, Jim. You mentioned your plans when we fished with you this Spring and it’s great to see it almost ready. Stay healthy & cool…
